Major Medical Rates are Just the Tip of the Iceberg

Some promoters of ACA-compliance strategies use the threat of compliance fines to mislead staffing companies into paying more than they have to. They focus your attention on the major medical price, while the bulk of your costs lie under the surface.

Following dramatic growth in 2014 business from staffing firms urgently seeking ACA-compliant solutions to eliminate penalties, Essential StaffCARE enrolled members surged at a record pace from August to September 2015 with the addition of scores of new staffing clients from across America.

With more than 500 new staffing company clients on-boarded in late 2014, and the introduction of new ACA-compliant plans and technologies in 2015, ESC’s leadership announced that its block of business has increased “significantly” over 2014 levels.

J. Marshall Dye, CEO of ESC, attributed the growth to the introduction of the new insurance products and ACA enrollment and reporting technologies. New products include the ESC MEC Wellness/Preventive plan that is available with NO employer contribution or minimum participation requirement, and the Fully Insured ESC Bronze Major Medical plan, that is also available to ESC Indemnity groups with NO employer contribution or minimum participation requirement. All ESC products are available to staffing groups without any employer contribution or minimum enrollment.

New enrollment and reporting technology provided by the proprietary ESC Audit Log System (ALS) enables ESC to unbundle elements of its ACA compliance system, including providing a low-cost solution for any group that needs year-end 2015 reporting.

Over 1,500  staffing companies currently offer ESC employee benefit plans using ESC’s proprietary Staffing Specific Administrative Platform (SSAP).

“We are averaging over 35 new staffing group contracts per day being processed by our New Business Department,” cited Dye. “A significant number of these companies are adding solutions in the form of our ACA-compliant MEC Wellness/Preventive plans, our fully-insured Major Medical plans, along with the ESC Fixed Indemnity plans designed to fill the gap of high-deductible bronze level coverage.”

Following Columbia’s 1,000-Year Flooding, Patience Please!

This weekend’s flooding across South Carolina and the Southeast proves once again Mother Nature is a force to be reckoned with.

ESC’s third party administrator PAI– a wholly owned subsidiary of BlueCross BlueShield of SC (one of only two A+ Superior rated health insurance companies in America) and headquartered in Columbia, South Carolina — is particularly proud of its award-winning customer service metrics, SAS-70 data center and national reputation for performance excellence.

But 24 inches of rain, over 150 bridges shut down and nearly 500 roads closed (including two major interstates) have temporarily cut off water, electricity and driving access to much of the city… with President Obama declaring the area a Federal Disaster Zone last evening.  While no physical damage was sustained to PAI’s state-of-the-art facility, it has made it virtually impossible for many of PAI’s associates to get to work to handle calls and inquiries this week.  The team is temporarily operating with a limited staff to meet your needs.

PAI and ESC ask for your thoughts and prayers for the hundreds of impacted families, and a little extra patience this week while the community dries out and returns to normal.
